And dad... well he is definitely a hoarder, never wanting to throw anything away because "You never know when it might come in useful." His approach to pieces of wood and bits of metal is probably the same as
mine is to fabric, on no account chuck it, a use can always be found for it. Poor Mum!
So anyway the great 'sorting out of the loft' is still on going but I thought you might like to see some of the treasures so far uncovered, which Mum and Dad brought down with them this week and believe you me I thought all my Christmasses had come at once......
First of all memories.
Some of you may remember wrestling with binca and a sewing needle at primary school. When I saw these I was transported back to 'Friday afternoon Needlework Club' with Mrs Old, some time in the 1970's. These were my attempts, I guess I must have been about 8 or 9.
First attempt at a sampler.......
Feeling a little bit braver.......
Check out the herringbone!!
First attempt at applique
Garish colour scheme!!
And now onto some fun items. This is when you realise that no one knows you like your parents do.
Mum's precious books!!!!
Lots of fabric......
.......and a little box full of bobbins, spool pins and needle threaders.....
and....... big squeal, this big beast.
Thanks Mum and Dad
There was also a huge box of picture frames screaming out for some paint and some of my old school work which I'm going to choose my moment to share with the boys. So many projects, I was mad on making little project books.
So SSSHHHH don't tell OH but these beauties are now hidden safely away in my loft, ready for their next big adventure and of course I need to clear the decks for any more goodies my mum or dad may find.
Now, before I go I must tell you about a great giveaway that Cathy is having over at Potter Jotter, if you want to find out more you'll have to pop over for a little look.
And finally on this special day, a moment to reflect.......
Good weekend x
